Downloading is one of the most common activities on the Internet. Even simply browsing pages involves retrieving or downloading HTML and other webpage data, such as images and Adobe Flash videos, from other resources on web server. Downloading has come to mean saving files, other than the webpage content, on to a local computer.
Web surfers can download music, images, applications and large files on to their computers, with the time taken depending on the file sizes, the connection speed and the allocated bandwidth from the Internet resource which hosts the file.
If a user frequently downloads files, then they would find using download managers helpful. Dedicated download managers offer features further than what are available on web browsers, such as pausing & resuming downloads, bandwidth management and scheduling dowloads for specific times. They can be installed as extensions to browsers or as stand-alone applications.
